Nigerian Military Gun down 26 Bandits in Northwest

The Nigerian Military have killed 26 bandits in northwest states of Zamfara and Katsina.

According to a statement on Saturday by the Acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Defence Headquarters, Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko 24 of the bandits were killed during an operation by troops of of the military codenamed Operation HADARIN DAJI, in Gurbin Magarya, Kwari and Garin Gado villages of Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The troops also killed 2 bandits in Bindim and Koli towns of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state during a similar operation.

Brigadier General Onyeuko said in the course of the operation at Gando, 7 males and 2 females kidnapped by bandits were also rescued, and handed over to their families.

He also said 4 AK 47 rifles, 2 locally made pistols, 3 Dane guns, 17 Rounds of 7.62 mm of AK 47, 1 Motor Cycle, 42 cattle and 38 sheep were recovered.

He said, “Troops are currently dominating the area with patrols which has helped to build confidence of locals.”
